A Christmas Carol in Prose; Being a Ghost Story of Christmas

Ebenezer Scrooge has spent a lifetime hoarding wealth and shutting out every human being who crossed his path. But on Christmas Eve, the ghost of his dead partner Jacob Marley arrives in chains — a warning of the fate awaiting those who waste their lives on greed. Three spirits follow: the Ghost of Christmas Past strips away Scrooge's defences, showing him the childhood loneliness that curdled into miserliness; the Ghost of Christmas Present confronts him with the warmth and poverty of the world he ignores; and the silent Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come leads him to a neglected grave bearing his own name. Faced with the cost of his choices, Scrooge makes the most important decision of his life.
