The Blue Bird: A Fairy Play in Six Acts

When the Fairy Bérylune visits the humble woodcutter's cottage on Christmas Eve, she gives young Tyltyl a magic diamond that reveals the hidden souls of the world. She sends him and his sister, Mytyl, on a quest to find the elusive Blue Bird of Happiness for her sick daughter. Guided by the luminous Light, and accompanied by the now-animated souls of their Dog, Cat, Bread, and Water, the children journey through the Land of Memory, the Palace of Night, and the Kingdom of the Future. They face betrayal, confront their fears, and learn profound lessons about life, death, and memory, only to return home and make a startling discovery about where happiness truly resides.
