Over dit boek
Five-year-old Heidi is brought to the Swiss Alps to live with her reclusive grandfather, Alm-Uncle, a man shunned by his village and hardened by grief. On the sun-drenched mountain pastures she flourishes—befriending goatherd Peter, tending goats, and coaxing warmth back into the old man's heart. But when her aunt Dete spirits her away to Frankfurt as a companion for the wheelchair-bound Clara Sesemann, Heidi's spirit slowly withers behind locked windows and starched curtains. Her desperate homesickness manifests as sleepwalking, until a doctor insists she must return home. Back on the mountain, Heidi heals not only herself but everyone around her—her grandfather finds faith, Peter's blind grandmother finds comfort, and Clara, brought to visit, takes her first steps in the Alpine air.
